GeoPolitics is essentially a form of sophisticated global chess played to the accompaniment of a delicate chamber orchestra. It is about softly outmanoevering the opponent over a game usually of more moves than the sudden death of Fool’s Mate.
No one who knows this, ever thought the administration’s clumsy efforts to brag N. Korea into submission would work. They needed at least the tacit support of China, which made the idea, timing and confusion over the trade war disgracefully ill conceived.
The President like any novice chess player claimed success too early, and now blames the ultimate opponent China for surprise moves, for not kow-towing.
But China does know how to play the long game.
Perhaps when this great nation looks for a replcement for the novice, we shoud look for a candidate who is real chess player?
Have a good weekend. James
